Oraaaaaa’s Cooking

Hello, this is Oraaaaaa. In Japan, I presume that the color pink is more prevalent than in other seasons due to the blooming of cherry blossoms. In Grinnell, it is spring break, and most students are not in campus. I won’t spoil the others’ fun of writing about their adventures in this two week timespan.

As others are venturing around the globe, I am stuck here in Grinnell. The disadvantage of being here is that the dining hall is closed. This means that the only ways of getting food are by eating out, buying food, or eating food that you had stocked up on. On the Friday before spring break, I was able to get some food from the dining hall in take-out boxes that they provide. After three consecutive days of only eating cupcakes, slices of pizza, and hamburgers, I noticed that I would not have enough food to last me until the end of spring break. Also, I was getting tired of the same food over and over again. Most importantly, I did not know what to write for today, so I decided to cook something instead of eating another hamburger. Since I do not know how to cook, unlike most of the other Japanese students here, I am extremely limited in options of what I can make. Well, this is what I made today.

This is pork, green pepper, and rice. It’s nothing fancy, but since my motto is “simple is best”, I think this dish fits me well. Cooking is fun but very time-consuming. Because I have a lot of time to waste during the break, it would not be a bad idea to make something again sometime during the break. If any of you have recommendations of what to make, please comment down below.

Thank you for reading this, and I hope for a nice spring break for those who have a break, and I hope for beautiful cherry blossoms for those able to see them back in Japan.
