Push It to the Limit

Happy New Years! With the New Year relay marathon, visits to the shrine, and the perfect weather, there is much to enjoy in Japan. With a start to the new year, there are many objectives that I hope to achieve. Hello, this is Oraaaaaa, and I will talk about one of my new year’s resolutions for 2017.

With a semester’s worth of experience in college, I have had a plethora of time to think about myself and about flaws that I want to improve on. Although there are many characteristics that I would like to change, one that I think would help the most has to do with the Japanese proverb, 「人事を尽くして天命を待つ」. When translated into English, it can be translated to simply mean, “Do your best.” However, the original meaning of the quote is trying to represent that people need to as much as they can do as people, and the rest will be decided by fate.

I decided to make use this quote as a guideline for my lifestyle for 2017 since this would fix most of the flaws that I wished to fix during my first semester. During my first semester of college, I felt as though I was only putting the bare minimum amount of effort into everything I did, thus leaving me with no satisfaction in what I completed. By using this proverb, I plan to be confident in everything that I do. With two more weeks left before the second semester starts, I am currently attempting to enjoy a semester’s worth in the 14 days. By playing hard now, I am getting ready to put my new year’s resolution into effect for study also.
